In the privacy of the hospital room, just hours after the birth of their son, mother and baby rest peacefully.

My interest in this type of photography began when a friend asked me to photograph her during her pregnancy. She was forty and starting a new family. Her joy touched my heart and I knew how important it was to have these memories preserved.

I regret that I don't have photos of my own pregnancy but when I was pregnant most women shied away from cameras completely. It was a different time in our history as women.

Today more and more women are feeling their strength and power, celebrating the life within in new ways.
